Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Le Caramel and the 20th Anniversary of The Basket Corner—Two Local San Diego Businesses
Join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of Le Caramel and the 20th anniversary of The Basket Corner on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 12:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. The factory boutique is located at 1181 Pioneer Way, El Cajon, C.A. 92020.
“My husband and I, along with our two children, attended one of their open days. It was A-mazing! The owners and their employees were all so friendly and knowledgeable. We tasted some caramel… and then bought way more than I care to admit. I now have a small stock of caramel bags in our home to give as a token thank-you or as a part of a larger gift. Highly recommended!” Elissa S.
At its inception ten years ago, Le Caramel was a novel, small San Diego business operating with one product— traditional French sea salt caramel cream. Husband and wife team, Vincent and Christen Kugener, brought their awarding-winning caramel recipe to San Diego from France. They spent a year of studying, training and producing caramel under the renowned caramel-maker, Daniel Palix. Ten years later, they have 18 different products (in seven different delicious flavors) and have added six staff members. They also purchased a local gift company, The Basket Corner, in 2018.
Committed to using locally sourced products, and supporting organizations in the San Diego community, Le Caramel and The Basket Corner give a portion of their proceeds on each sale of Autism Awareness sea salt caramel candies to the Autism Tree Partnership Foundation.
“Come and celebrate the first decade of Le Caramel with our team. These past ten years have been fantastic. We have grown from a tiny ‘mom and pop’ local San Diego business selling to street fairs, to a familyowned factory, producing and selling 400 tons of caramel a year. We still craft every batch like our first one—with care and with quality ingredients. We would like to sincerely thank the community that has supported us for all of these years.” Christen Kugener, co-owner of Le Caramel and The Basket Corner.
Tours of the factory and caramel-making classes are available to larger groups. Contact Christen and Vincent Kugener at ; 619.562.0713 to learn more.
